Siena 72, Manhattan 68
ALBANY, N.Y. (AP)—Tommy Mitchell scored 17 points and Prosper Karangwa and Michael Haddix had 16 each as Siena beat Manhattan 72-68 Thursday night.
Siena (17-9, 11-6 MAAC) rallied back from a nine-point deficit in the second half to beat the league-leading Manhattan (20-6, 13-4).
The Saints rallied to come to within 48-46 after a pair of free throws by Karangwa. Manhattan answered with the game’s next five points to push the lead to seven, but the Saints responded again.
Mitchell’s 3 capped a 7-0 Siena run, tying the score at 55-55. Antoine Jordan gave Siena its first lead of the second half with a 3-pointer moments later at 5:40.
Siena carried a three-point lead with just under two minutes left to play, answering each Manhattan basket with one of their own.
Jordan had 10 points for Siena, and Haddix added 12 rebounds.
Luis Flores led Manhattan with 29 points, 14 in the first half. Jared Johnson and Dave Holmes added 13 points apiece. Holmes had 11 rebounds.
The Saints shot 83.3 percent from the free throw line.
