BRIDGEPORT, Conn. (AP)—Tremmell Darden scored 26 points to lead Niagara to an 85-74 win over Fairfield Sunday in a Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference game.
Niagara (11-10, 7-5 MAAC) used a 9-0 run to take a 70-59 lead with 4:41 remaining and seal the win. Darden kicked off the spurt with a 3-pointer.
Fairfield (13-8, 9-3) had pulled to within 57-55 with 9:39 left after going on a 9-1 run. The teams traded baskets over the next few possessions before Niagara went on its 9-0 run.
Juan Mendez added 16 points and 12 rebounds, including seven offensive boards, for Niagara.
Deng Gai led Fairfield with 19 points and five blocks. DeWitt Maxwell had 12 points, eight rebounds and four assists, while Oscar Garcia chipped in 12 points for the Stags.
