HAMMOND, La. (AP)—Donald Cole scored 24 points and grabbed 10 rebounds to lead Sam Houston State to a 74-69 win over Southeastern Louisiana in Southland Conference action Thursday night.

Cole, the second leading scorer in the conference at 17.8 points per game, scored 16 of his team-high 24 points in the second half. Felton Freeman added 16 points for Sam Houston (14-5).

Terry West led three Lions in double figures with a career-high 24 points and 10 rebounds. Amir Abdur-Rahim scored 17 while Marcus Smith added 11 points for Southeastern (7-12).

The game was tied three times in the second half before Sam Houston took the lead for good on a three-pointer by Cole with 8:29 left and the Bearkats pushed the lead to as many as eight as they held on for the win.

The game snapped a three-game winning streak for Southeastern.
