YPSILANTI, Mich. (AP)—Steve Pettyjohn scored 18 points and Ryan Prillman added 12 as Eastern Michigan handed Bowling Green its first conference loss of the season, 73-67, on Tuesday night.
The Falcons cut a nine-point Eastern Michigan lead down to two with 1:19 to go on two Ronald Lewis free throws. But Pettyjohn sank a 3-pointer on the Eagles’ next possession to seal the victory.
Eastern Michigan (7-5, 1-2 Mid-American) beat the Falcons for the first time in five meetings.
Kevin Netter scored 15 points for Bowling Green (8-5, 4-1), which had won six straight entering the game. Cory Eyink added 14 points.
The Eagles led 37-34 at halftime and never trailed after that.
JaQuan Hart, a transfer from Ohio State, ignited the Eagles in the first half with eight points, three rebounds and three assists in 12 minutes.
Eastern Michigan shot 55.2 percent (16-for-29) from the field in the first half compared with 44.8 percent (13-for-29) for the Falcons. Prillman had eight points in the period and held Netter, Bowling Green’s leading scorer, to 4-for-11 shooting in the half.
