SW Missouri St. 67, Bradley 45
SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (AP)—Jason Gilbert came off the bench to score 15 points and lead Southwest Missouri State to a 67-45 conference win over Bradley on Saturday.
Southwest Missouri State (5-5, 2-0 Missouri Valley) held Phillip Gilbert, the league’s leading scorer, to three points. Gilbert had been averaging 20 points per game. His only score came on a 3-pointer with 2:49 left in the first half.
Southwest Missouri’s defense held Bradley (4-8, 0-1) to 30 percent shooting from the field and forced the Braves to commit 28 turnovers.
The Bears shot 44 percent from the field and 5-of-10 from the 3-point range.
Gilbert scored 10 of his points in the first half to help Southwest Missouri to a 31-25 halftime lead. Shelton Colwell scored 10 and Tamarr Maclin had a game-high 11 rebounds for Southwest Missouri State.
Bradley struggled at the start of the second half, scoring just three points in the first 8:30 while Southwest Missouri ran off 11 points to pull away.
Danny Granger and Michael Stewart led Bradley with 14 points each.
