Manhattan 81, Marist 73
POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. (AP)—Luis Flores had a game-high 27 points and 11 rebounds to lead Manhattan to a 81-73 win over Marist Saturday.
Marist (5-7) led briefly in the first-half, 25-24, but could not maintain the lead.
Manhattan (8-3) had a 39-37 halftime advantage. Marist closed to within a point early in the second half, before Manhattan expanded the lead to five points. The Red Foxes came within a point several times in the half, but never tied the game or grabbed the lead.
Marist’s David Bennett scored a career-high 20 points on 6-9 shooting from the field, including 4-5 from behind the arc. Dennis Young recorded his second double-double of the year for the Red Foxes, with 12 points and 10 boards. Brandon Ellerbee added 11 points, nine boards and a career-high six steals.
Mike Konovelchick tallied 22 points and six rebounds for Marist, while Jason Benton added 11 points and Dave Holmes 10.
Manhattan finished the game shooting 54.9 percent, 61.5 percent in the first half.
