HONOLULU (AP)—Phillip Gilbert scored 22 points and James Gillingham and reserve Mike Suggs each added 19 Monday as Bradley built an early lead and went on to an 88-76 victory over Chicago State in the fifth-place game of the Rainbow Classic.

The Braves (4-7) raced off to a 31-7 lead 10 minutes into the game to effectively put the game out of reach. During the run, Gillingham had nine points and Suggs scored seven.

The lead was up to 34 points before Derrick Wimmer and Geoff Richard knocked down 3-pointers just before the buzzer to make it 50-22 at the half.

Chicago State had two dry spells without a basket—one for eight minutes and the other for four. By that time, Bradley had run off to a big lead with Gillingham and Suggs each getting 12 points and Gilbert 10.

Bradley made 19 field goals over the first 20 minutes, while the Cougars (3-8) managed only eight.

The Braves also got double-digit scoring from Danny Granger, who had 13 points and 12 rebounds. For Chicago State, Craig Franklin had 17 points, 13 in the second half, and Derrick Wimmer 14.
