Manhattan 85, Fordham 57
NEW YORK (AP)—Dave Holmes had 24 points and Luis Flores added 22 as Manhattan beat Fordham 85-57 Tuesday night, the Rams’ fourth straight loss.
Holmes was 7-of-9 from the field, including 2-for-2 from 3-point range, and won the Mike Cohen Memorial Award as the MVP of the game between the local rivals.
The visiting Jaspers (3-0) now hold a 48-47 lead in the series that began in 1911-12.
Mark Jarrell-Wright had 14 points for the Rams (1-4), while Mike Haynes added 12.
Jermaine Anderson’s jumper got Fordham even at 14-14 at 9:02 of first half, then Holmes scored four points in a 10-0 run by the Jaspers.
Holmes hit a 3-pointer to open the second half and Glenn Batemon responded with consecutive baskets to get the Rams within 43-28 with 18:24 left.
Holmes then had 13 points in a 19-7 run that gave Manhattan a 62-35 lead with 11:33 to go.
