Manhattan 77, Sacred Heart 62

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. (AP)—Luis Flores scored 25 points to lead four Manhattan players in double figures as the Jaspers beat Sacred Heart 77-62 Monday night in the Coaches vs. Cancer College Slam.

Manhattan took command in its season-opener by sprinting to a 21-4 lead. Flores scored eight points to key the early run, which ended in Jason Benton’s layup 7:40 in. The Jaspers went on to a 46-25 halftime lead.

Sacred Heart (0-2) narrowed the deficit to 14 points after the break, but got no closer than 74-60 on Zach Spivey’s basket with 1:28 left.

Benton and Justin Jackette each scored 16 points for Manhattan, while Jared Johnson added 11. Donnell King led the Pioneers with 16 points in a reserve role.
