ATLANTA (AP)—Lefty Driesell became the first NCAA basketball coach to win 100 or more games at four schools as Georgia State opened the season with a 76-44 victory over North Carolina A&T on Saturday night.

Lamont McIntosh led Georgia State with 22 points, Cedrick Patton added 15, and Trello Galloway had 11 points and five rebounds in his first game for the Panthers.

Driesell, in his sixth year with the Panthers, has 783 career wins at Davidson, Maryland, James Madison and Georgia State to rank fourth behind only Dean Smith, Adolph Rupp and Bob Knight in Division I wins. Driesell also

“Every game Coach Driesell coaches he wants to win, so his record is no surprise,” McIntosh said. “We have been practicing well and every game we play is important, so we came out focused and ready.”

Steven Koger led North Carolina A&T with 11 points. North Carolina A&T didn’t shoot any free throws.
