OUTLOOK: A crucial loss for the Wildcats last season, Sumpter
had a strong campaign in bouncing back from an ACL tear. The
senior has provided a consistent inside presence that the team
could have used last year in its loss to eventual national
champion Florida in the regional final. Nardi has also played
an important role for Villanova, but it is the play of freshman
Reynolds that draws any interest to this team. The Big East
Rookie of the Year, Reynolds lit up opponents for 26.5 points in
a recent six-game span, including 40 in a 78-74 victory at
Connecticut on February 28. Nardi, the team leader in
3-pointers made, free-throw percentage and assists, was
sidelined for most of the Big East Tournament with an ankle
injury but is expected to play against Kentucky.
