OUTLOOK: The Islanders have had a meteoric rise since joining
Division I eight years ago, collecting their first NCAA berth by
winning a conference tournament in their first season in the
Southland. Texas A&M-Corpus Christi has done it with a superb
offense, leading its league in scoring (79.7), field-goal
percentage (52.3) and 3-point shooting (39.7). The 7-0 Daniels
is the anchor inside, shooting 59 percent, but converts just 68
percent of his free throws. The Islanders want to push the
pace, going 18-1 in games when they score at least 75 points.
Controlling the tempo will be a tough task against Wisconsin,
which finished eighth in the nation in scoring defense with 57.2
points.
