OUTLOOK: Few teams are resilient or tough as the Aggies, who
enhanced their reputation with a gritty 72-69 win over a red-hot
Louisville in what was basically a home game for the Cardinals.
Law IV, perhaps the best clutch player in college ball, did
little to diminish that notion by scoring 17 of his 26 points in
the second half to send A&M into the regional semifinals for
the first time since 1980. The reward for winning in Kentucky
is a chance to play the next two games in San Antonio, starting
with Thursday's matchup against No. 2 Memphis. The Aggies have
received an unexpected offensive boost from junior guard
Dominique Kirk, who scored a season-high 16 points in their
first-round win over Pennsylvania and topped it with 21 against
Louisville. A&M is the tournament's top defensive squad,
limiting foes to 37.1 percent shooting, which keeps the team in
every game (five of their six losses this season were by a total
of 10 points). Jones and Kavaliauskas form a nice inside
pairing so Memphis' best hope is to disrupt the Aggies with
pressure defense.

NEXT GAME: Thursday vs. (2) Memphis at San Antonio
