OUTLOOK: It started to look as if Louisville had made a big
mistake jumping to the Big East until it ripped off a six-game
winning streak to finish the regular season. Williams has
averaged 17.2 points and 7.6 boards in his last five games and
will need to continue that production, particularly with the
questionable status of Palacios, who missed the last five games
with back spasms. With the exception of Smith, Louisville is a
below average 3-point shooting team and weak at the free-throw
line (67 percent) so it relies on its pressure defense and
transition game to generate offense. Padgett will be key in the
opener as he battles Stanford's towering frontcourt, but the
Cardinals also have a huge advantage playing just 70 miles from
its campus. Having Pitino and his 83-28 career record in the
month of March doesn't hurt.

NEXT GAME: Thursday vs. (11) Stanford at Lexington, KY
