Cent Michigan pulls out 65-64 win over SIUE

EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. (AP)—Chris Fowler’s layup with six seconds left lifted Central Michigan to a 65-64 win over Southern Illinois-Edwardsville Saturday.

Fowler’s three-point play with 24 seconds left put the Chippewas up by two 63-61. Maurice Wiltz answered with a 3-pointer to put SIUE back in front 64-63 with 17 seconds to play.

Fowler responded with his game-winner.

Neither team was able to wrest control of the back-and-forth battle. The Chippewas took the largest lead of the second half with 11:13 left when Josh Kozinski drilled a 3-pointer to make it 46-42. Christian Salecich answered with a 3-pointer for the Cougars 15 seconds later

Fowler finished with a game-high 23 points to lead Central Michigan (6-3), hitting 10 of 14 shots from the field.

Wiltz scored 17 points off the bench to lead SIUE (2-7). Michael Messer and Ray Lester finished with 11 and 10 points, respectively.
