Oregon State defeats Illinois-Chicago 95-53

CORVALLIS, Ore. (AP)—Roberto Nelson had 21 points to lead Oregon State to 95-53 victory over Illinois-Chicago on Tuesday night.

Jared Cunningham added 16 points and five steals for the Beavers (7-2).

Daniel Barnes and Greg Travis had eight points each for Illinois-Chicago (3-6).

Oregon State took a 22-6 lead after nine straight points by Nelson and led 45-21 at halftime.

Illinois-Chicago got no closer than 19 after intermission. Nelson made three consecutive 3-pointers for Oregon State midway through the second half.

Gary Talton, Illinois-Chicago’s leading scorer at 16 points a game, was held scoreless until the opening minute of the second half. He finished with four points.
