Hawkins scores 23 to lead UTPA over Huston-Tillotson, 80-60

EDINBURG, Texas (AP)—Nathan Hawkins scored a career-high 23 points to lead Texas-Pan American to an 80-60 victory over Huston-Tillotson Wednesday night.

Hawkins hit 11 of 13 from the field. Brian Burrell scored 18 points and had 10 rebounds. Paul Stoll added 13 points for the Broncs (10-10), who won their fourth straight.

K.C. Asomugha scored 14 points to lead Huston-Tillotson and was the only player in double figures for the Rams (2-11).

The Rams played the Broncs close early, leading 9-6 in the opening minutes, but Texas-Pan American responded with a 17-4 run. Burrell, Stoll and Ben Smith each had 3-pointers during the run.

Huston-Tillotson made only 1 of 15 3-pointers in the first half and trailed 39-23 at halftime.
