Louis Dale leads Cornell in 91-46 rout over Alvernia

ITHACA, N.Y. (AP)—Louis Dale scored 13 points and grabbed 4 rebounds, leading Cornell to a 91-46 win over Alvernia in a non-conference basketball game Thursday.

Cornell, a Division I team, had 15 players on the court at some point during the game, and each scored. Geoff Reeves and Ryan Wittman, scored 11 each. Jason Hartford who scored nine points and grabbed a team-high five rebounds. Cornell (7-5) shot 55.6 percent from the floor and made seven of nine free throws.

Terrence Shawell led Division III Alvernia (4-6) with 11 points and a game-high seven rebounds. Zach Westmoreland and David Washington added six points apiece for Alvernia, which shot 34 percent from the floor and made eight of its 12 free throws, all of them in the second half.

The Crusaders started strong, and had an 11-10 lead at the 12:23 mark of the first half. But the Big Red then went on a 20-4 burst that put the game away.

Cornell liberally substituted players in the second half and had its starters watch the reserves from the bench for the final 16 minutes.
