North Carolina top seed in latest projections

North Carolina is back in familiar territory.

The Tar Heels, who have earned a national seed the past few seasons, have been a mainstay in Omaha. Barring a major collapse to end the regular season, the Tar Heels are in the same position this season.

UNC is the top national seed this week and is followed by Rice, UC Irvine, Texas, LSU, Cal State Fullerton, Arkansas and Florida.

This week’s projections include some surprises, particularly in the hosting area where we decided to give Miami a host over Georgia. The Hurricanes and Bulldogs have similar standings in their respective conferences. Miami, though, is 11-11 against top-50 RPI teams. Georgia, meanwhile, is 7-11 against top-50 RPI teams.
