May 3 Series: Lost Eastern Conference first round, 4-2

Washington Wizards F Darius Songaila received a one-game suspension without pay for striking Cleveland Cavaliers F LeBron James in the face with his hand with 3:20 remaining in the first period of Washington's 88-87 win over the Cavaliers on Wednesday at Quicken Loans Arena. Songaila served the suspension Friday night when the Wizards lost 105-88 to the Cavaliers in Game Six of their Eastern Conference first-round series, which the Cavaliers won, 4-2. "Of course, you miss him," Wizards F Antawn Jamison said. "You get into a comfort zone with him. He's been in big games before. ... I'll leave it alone, but definitely we miss him." ... For the third consecutive year, the Wizards were eliminated from the playoffs by the Cavaliers. "Last year was difficult with the injuries," Jamison said. "This year, it's hard to swallow because you know you're better than your performance has shown. We felt that we should have made it to the next round. It didn't happen. ... It's frustrating to come up short in the first round the last three years. We'll see what happens." Added Wizards coach Eddie Jordan: "I thought it was a successful season. We ended up finishing fifth in the conference. Us and Detroit are the only teams to make consecutive playoff appearances in the last four years. That's good company. ... I felt it was a very successful year. In the history of time in the NBA, if it is true that you have to take your lumps and your beatings before you can make the next jump in the playoffs, then certainly we're on the brink of it."
