The San Antonio Spurs are struggling to put the pieces of their re-tooled roster together—so losing Tony Parker in the first half of Friday's 96-84 loss at Portland didn't help matters.

Two duds on the road dropped San Antonio to 0-3 away from home and to a very un-Spurs-like 2-3 on the season. The club will be happy to learn the upcoming schedule provides plenty of home cooking.

Two days of rest brings a stretch of 12 of their next 15 games at home, including seven of their next eight. Toronto, Oklahoma City and Dallas kick off the first leg of the home stretch followed by a quick trip to Dallas.

Then Utah, Washington, Milwaukee and Golden State visit San Antonio before a one-night jaunt to Houston.

A new-look lineup worked wonders for the Portland Trail Blazers, and coach Nate McMillan plans to keep it for a while. With Andre Miller joining them in the backcourt, Brandon Roy had 24 points, Steve Blake added 15 and the Portland Trail Blazers beat the San Antonio Spurs 96-84 Friday night. "It was a change of pace, maybe something we need," Roy said.

The boos that the Utah Jazz heard early quickly turned to cheers of "Booz!" Carlos Boozer and the Utah Jazz finally put on a show worth rooting for, beating the San Antonio Spurs 113-99 on Thursday night. The Jazz ended a two-game losing skid and undid a little of the damage done in an embarrassing loss two nights before.

Manu Ginobili has decided to stay away from bats in the future. The San Antonio Spurs star says on his Facebook page that he had to be vaccinated for rabies after catching a bat and removing it from the court during a victory over Sacramento on Halloween. Ginobili posted Monday that he doesn't know if the bat had rabies but he had to get vaccinated to make sure he was safe.

The Spurs' Manu Ginobili showed off his quick hands -- capturing a bat. "That was amazing," teammate Tony Parker said after the San Antonio Spurs beat the Sacramento Kings 113-94 on Saturday night. "The legend continues with Manu. Unbelievable. ... He's always doing crazy stuff." Late in the first period a bat swooped into the AT&T Center and descended onto the court.

Derrick Rose was so antsy and "geeked up" to get back on the court he had to blast the music on his way to the arena. Once he arrived, he certainly seemed in tune. Or at least close. Rose scored 13 points and had seven assists to lead the balanced Chicago Bulls to an impressive 92-85 season-opening victory over the San Antonio Spurs on Thursday night.

Parker walked back to the bench OK after a hard landing in the third quarter, leaving the game with 17 points but with rookie DeJuan Blair and the Spurs already well in command of the New Orleans Hornets in a 113-96 victory on Wednesday night.

The San Antonio Spurs have exercised the option on guard George Hill's contract for next season. Hill averaged 5.5 points and 1.8 assists as a rookie playing behind Tony Parker last season.
