    Checking in with the Tar Heels in the NBA

    Harrison Barnes – At this point, Golden State’s Barnes might be the most well-known Tar Heel in the league, for both good and bad. He’s an electric young player that can play multiple positions, knock down the 3 and fits perfectly within the Warriors’ system. It’ll be an important summer for Barnes, however, after immense struggles in the NBA Playoffs. He recently made the Team USA roster for the upcoming Olympics, but will he still be a Warrior next season? Several teams around the league will still throw the max at him, despite those recent performances, yet Barnes will most likely stay in Northern California (unless Golden State wins the Kevin Durant sweepstakes).     Orlando Magic agree to deal with D.J. Augustin

    The Orlando Magic added to their point-guard depth during the first hours of the NBA’s free-agency period early Friday morning, reaching a deal in principle with 28-year-old D.J. Augustin, according to The Vertical. Augustin's impending move to the Magic will reunite him with his former Indiana Pacers coach, Frank Vogel. Augustin posted one of the best long-range shooting years of his eight-year career this past season, making 40.5 percent of his 3-point tries in stints with the Oklahoma City Thunder and Denver Nuggets. Players may not formally sign contracts until July 7, when the NBA will lift its moratorium period. Augustin’s addition signals Magic officials felt it was necessary to improve
