The Lakers are well over the salary cap and cannot sign any big names on other teams, so they hope to retain two of their own players, Sasha Vujacic and Ronny Turiaf. Both are restricted free agents, meaning the Los Angeles Lakers can match any offer sheet they sign with another team according to the Los Angeles Times.
Lakers General Manager Mitch Kupchak recently said he would call Vujacic's agent immediately after free agency begins at 9 p.m. The Lakers also will try to keep Turiaf but are willing to spend more money to bring back Vujacic, who might receive a payday of close to $5 million a year.
The Lakers will pay almost $5 million in luxury taxes for last season and aren't expected to dip too far into other options if they re-sign Vujacic and Turiaf. The most the team could offer a free agent from another team is the mid-level exception of about $6 million a season.

When it comes to Sasha, its a love hate relationship. Sasha is a wonderful spot shooter and his defense will only get better. Sasha problem is two fold. #1. He cant penetrate and take it to the RIM. #2. Sasha love to dribble to his left and pull up and shoot the ball. The problem here is that the ball (every time), just hits the rim or he shoots an air ball. With no one in his face, he will hit the three all day long. That said, I believe you all agree and Sasha knows what he needs to work on. Laker fan for life.

By all means keep Turiaf, who's one of the only 3 guys on the team who knows how to play defense. If they truly value their chances for a title, why would they favor Sasha over Ronny?

And Mia L., yes babe that was me, so see you around my yacht?
I think that LA will be able to find someone (Ron Artest?) out there "Who takes a cut to play for a ring" game that we had a few years ago with Mailman and Glove, Lakers 4 LIFE!

Keep: Turiaf and Sasha (The got a taste of the NBA this year and can only get better for 08-09)
Acquire: Artest or Bell
These guys are defensive players with a consistent offensive mindset. Lakers need to bulk up on D. Lakers are a powerful offensive machine as they proved on several games. They almost came back from a 20+ deficit against Boston and they are considered to be the best defensive team in the NBA. Boston has strong D and average offense. Lakers have excellent offense and below average D. We need D.

Did you watch basketball this year? They have Pierce, KG, and Allen. All of which can go off for 25+ at any time.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------This guy is sucha hater... it's to obvious, leave the blogs to the fans... Lakers are tthe winningest franchise in the game. KB24MVP will get his 4th ring next year.. LeBron will be traded after another early playoff exit. Proving he's over-rated. Even Craig Ehlo led the Cavs to the finals once... where's he now?
