“StephenThe Warriors' Stephen Jackson(notes) seemed uncontrollable last week. He was publicly demanding trades and causing all sorts of rifts on his team.

But all that chaos appears to be suddenly over now, according to the Contra Costa Times. He's apparently now starting to even enjoy himself. "I feel he's there now," said coach Don Nelson.

The regular season is nine days away and Jackson is saying that he's going to focus solely on playing basketball. "Sometimes I might say some things that people don't expect because it was on my mind. But I know what's right and wrong," Jackson said. "I know what I need to do to continue to build my reputation in this league as a player and as a man. By keeping my composure, it's going to help me and not take away from me being a great basketball player."

He's even managed to smile and interact with his teammates in the past few days.

Jack isnt dumb! He knows what time it is, just keep it moving and play ball! He's getting money, and is 1 of the best in the league at his position, with a championship ring behind his belt. Hell he's from PORT ARTHUR TX! They dont breed dummy's out there.......... JACK get outta that [profane] hole in GS, and go to the Cavs, your that missing peice they need. It was your position that the Cavs got beat at in the playoffs against Orlando..............

Not really #3. Delonte actually did very well at the 2 against the Magic. Mo Williams just never showed up and we had no answer for Dwight inside other than doubling him.

His trade value was in the toilet. He had to shut up and play nice. At least Capt Jack isn't from Beaumont, Texas!

actually, the main reason that Jackson is acting this way, is because of the Cavs. Many reports have the Cavs actively pursuing a trade that would most likely send Anthony Parker, Z , a draft pick, and cash to the Warriors for Jackson and Ronny Turiaf. This deal would work wonders for the Cavaliers. If you dont believe me Matt, here is a link to prove it: http://www.slamonline.com/online/nba/2009/10/report-cavs-want-stephen-jackson/

Why? A trade would be better right? I think that GS and Jackson will BOTH benefit from it. GS is obviously going for the youth movement (aka rebuilding), and by trading Jackson, they could start a young core of Curry, Ellis (started his career as a SG), Randolph (who played well towards the end of last year), Wright, and Biedrins. And they have Maggette, Azubuike, and Morrow who can play at SF and/or SG. They would still have a decent rotation (not good, but not bad) and they could snatch a good lottery pick(s) in the next couple of years. By getting expiring contracts and draft picks from the trade, GS could set themselves up for the future due to both the free agency and the lottery (like what Portland did). Jackson, on the other hand, can be allowed to go to a championship team (if it means that GS needs to buy out his contract then so be it) and challenge for a championship (duh). Orlando (who could use a SF to replace for Hedo) or Cavs (who could use a better SG) would be great (but unlikely) destinations....wow....everything I just said has really nothing to do with the article at all......

Qwev: you're an idiot. why would golden state start an unproven guys like curry and draft busts aka brandan wright over maggette or azubuike? it's obvious that ellis and curry can't share the same backcourt. ellis probably wants out and anyway he's overrated, but curry hasnt prove a thing and if anything he's probably worse than ellis and has a lower ceiling. trade jack. start azubuike, ellis, maggette, randolph, and biedrins. make morrow the 6th man. he's one-dimensional but he's good as what he does. wright is a bust. curry will probably be a bust. while azubuike will be a star if given the playing time. maggette is very underrated even though his defense sucks (but whose doesn't on the warriors? dude can average more than 20 ppg) randolph can be special. ellis is a ballhog who is only good at midrange but has the speed. get rid of him when he still has upside. i don't see a lot of room for improvement.

The warriors are are like a rudderless boat, again thru poor leadership the warriors are not able to sustain a roster that can compete for a whole season. Instead they are a farm league for good players who will thrive else where. If you look at the line up, they have promising individual players who cannot seem to get a grasp of what it takes to win. That tells me the coaches are not teaching. Veterans do not want to come here if they do it is mostly a cash grab. Why may Maggaette that type of money when his history shows he is always hurt. How many times did he come off the bench ? No one will want to cach this team when Nellie bags it in and goes back to Hawaii. Ownership and the team brass are completely clueless. This team could be 1 or 2 players away from being a pretty good team. Curry could be a real player, but is that what the team needs? Didnt we just pay Ellis a similar type of player? We drafted Wright then the following year drafted Randolph a similar player?
Fire the President - replace him Nellie (get him off the court) Bring in Avery Johnson who will be tough on the players and teach them to play defense. Gain some respect fr the league, bring in 1 or 2 proven veterans. Bosh, Camby build around them not around Ellis or Jackson.

Jackson's outbursts are not the issue, they are just a reaction of how poorly management and ownership have navigated this team. The W's have been to the playoffs once in about 17 years (and that appearance was a miracle run); the bottom-line is until W's have new Ownership--they will be a cellar dweller. If you are a true W's fan--stop attending the games, and stop lining ownership's pockets, do not buy W's merchandise. Until management's bottom-line is hurt, they will not stop putting together these whack-a-do teams. Maybe then W's can be bought buy Larry Ellison (who has tried several times); current Ownership and Management are clueless.
I have seen enough good players come and go with the W's...dump Jackson--he's no Chris Mullin. The man takes way too many 3's and has proven to be mentally weak, and cannot dribble save his life (watch the next warriors televised game, see how many TO's he has trying to split double-teams or doing a spin move). And to those that think Cavs want Jackson...are you that dense ??? The man is a liability, he's old, and they are not going to commit to his type of contract if Lebron is not guaranteed to stay past this coming year (hence the 1 yr Shaq deal). Furthermore, why get Jackson if Monta is there for the Cavs to take.

Why get Jackson is Monta is there for hte Cavs to take?
    Are you serious?
Jackson is a better player than Monta AND makes less money for less years (Monta's $11M option is a player option).
Mike Brown used to coach Jackson in San Antonio. He always said great things about him there. Cavs need a big scoring 2, not a short tweener that is Monta. That deal would make less than zero sense for the Cavs.
Jackson makes sense for the Cavs since he brings height and is a 2-way player. His defense is pretty underrated. He's no Artest obviously, but compared to Vince Carter he's a stud, lol.
Jackson did see his assist total go up a lot last year with Ellis out. He 'can' be unselfish if he chooses to be, and surrounded by Mo, Lebron, and Shaq you know he'll be.
I don't think the Cavs will trade for Jackson, but it'd be a great move and I'd love to see it get done.

To JaimeM: But lets be honest if you ever watch the championship for San Ant when Jack played for them, he hands down won that last game of the series, if it wasnt for Jack, they would not have won that series. Look at what he averages in points, assist, reb.....c'mon man. When he went up against the Mavs, Jack shut Dirk DOWN, when they play the Lakers, Jack is 1 of the only people in the league who can partially hold Kobe from going on a rampage(not saying he shuts Kobe down) of scoring 40+, he doesnt back down from anyone when it comes to defending. Yeah mentally he is a hot head, and does mentally brake, but under the right cast of players, I can bet....... you wont see that to much. Taking to many 3's ok....... I hear yah, but hell if I played for GS I would jack 3's up to, its not like GS has a chance to make a run like in 07! Its not dense thinking the Cavs want Steph, Lebron wants heart around him, someone that will show up, cause anybody in there right mind would pick up Steph over Delonte West, Steph is a match up problem!! Yeah he turns the ball over, but he is not a the type of player to push the ball up&down the floor.......

    jack ellis
he has a very complete skill set for a swingman. 3 pointer, defense, ballhandling, slash and drive.
ellis is a speed guy who thrives in the midrange who has no 3 point shot, undersized, and doesn't play D or create for his teammates. he's younger, but i don't see him getting any better. he's one of the most overhyped and overpaid player in the league.
stephen curry's ceiling is ellis right now save for better range and worse overall shooting percentage, but even that is unlikely.

And are you serious? Monta is overrated? Jackson is overrated. Jackson might have nice look Pts/Reb/Assist (20/5/6.5) and above average defender but If you look at his stats over time, you will see that Jackson shoots 40% on the field, he is a volume shooter, takes about 20 shots just to get 20 pts over the course of 40 min, he tries to be a point forward, but turns the ball over 4 times a night. All i gotta say inefficiency. On the defensive side, people actually underates him and people need to remember how he defended Nowitzki during the playoffs but if you watch him during last couple games ha had last season, he wouldnt go back to defense and complains to refs. Stephen Jackson is a jack @s.

alright... i just went on espn trade machine... and being a long time cavs fan... i think the only trade cleveland would agree to would be Jackson/ A.C. Law... for Delonte West/ Daniel Gibson... the salaries work.. the years are the same.. plus Law is a free agent next year that come off the books... Cleveland needs a solid backup pg.. gibson struggles to run the team and west is a liability this year... jackson can play defense (he played on san antonio and indiana and the were defensive systems)...cleveland will not give up a big man... and GS might be down on this trade... if they really want to get rid of Jackson... Nelson loves small guards who can shoot... and west and gibson would fit perfectly into his system this year....
    holla back....

Its unfortunate that Monta was injured last season when it was suppose to be his break out year again, but you know it happens.
I dont know why some of you believes monta should be traded and curry now to carry the torch. Monta came off a injury that led to him missing more 2/3 of the season, and came back to average19 pts 45% on the field. 1 1/2 years ago he average 20 pts 53% on the field and at that time and still does,
i think Monta deserve his 11m a year contract. If you look at statistics, every player who came back from an serious injury wont be their former selves as soon as they come back. Look at guys like stoudemire, and hill. No1 expect for arenas to average 25 pts this season.
Monta is still 24 and he would still definitely improve. Monta might not look like a true point guard right now, but that doesnt mean he cant. Ever heard of Tony Parker?.
i say find a capable owner and fire Nelson. i no longer believe nelson wants to coach this young team and obviously doesnt know how to teach the young guys considering he doesnt give much playing time to young guys lke morrow and randolph
He also let jackson play the whole preseason game agasint the king taking away valuable playing time for the young guys.

At the end of the day this guy should have made his trade demands in PRIVATE so the reality is who cares what he wants or doesn't want. Now suddenly he knows what he has to do as a man and NBA player and that's shut the bleep up. Bottom line is he's a malcontent with millions of $$$ that most if not all of us won't ever see in our life times...it would have been better if you had KEPT YOUR MOUTH SHUT IN THE FIRST PLACE MR. JACKSON. You've reminded me why I don't pay the $170 for NBA league pass or go to games...OVERPAID SPOILED BRATS.
