Warriors' Jackson willing to take buyout

“StephenGolden State Warriors forward/guard Stephen Jackson(notes) is back from a two-game suspension that cost him $140,000 in salary and he's still not a happy fella.

His relationship with coach Don Nelson was already strained and now it's gone to a whole new level: "Anytime somebody takes $150,000 from you, your relationship is going to change, regardless of who it is," Jackson said. "If my mom took some money from me, I'd still love her to death, but I'd still be upset about it," Jackson told the San Francisco Chronicle, adding that he needs to listen to Nelson on the court and nowhere else.

Jackson, who has been trying to get himself traded, is also now saying he would consider a buyout from the team if it was "right." (Gee, thanks, Stephen.) And Jackson set himself up for a quick exit by telling his bosses yesterday that he doesn't want to captain the Warriors this season: "I don't want these young guys to try to follow me," he said. "I can't be a role model to guys who make the same amount of money as me."

You can be sure Nelson was happy to not have to ask Jackson to step down as captain and would love to be able to suspend this guy for a few more games.

there is definitely stuff going on behind the scene that we don't know about.
jackson is a stand-up guy, so nelson definitely insulted the man or tried to sabotage his career.
    nothing is unprovoked.
fire nelson and release stephen curry while you're at it.

rules are rules......its his employer.....if he broke them he must pay for it. If a manger(captain) came into the bosses office and said i can't mange these guys because of their pay, he would be canned on the spot......This guy atleast gets a buyout for not following the plan and rules......A luxury a great percentage of us would not get if we were sick and tired of our job......Good luck Jackson.....(still holding your gun sideways?)

What the heck happened to him. It's as if he is willing to do anything to get off of the wariors. I don't think though that it is a good idea for him to became a Free Agent, cause who would want to take a risk with an atitude like that.

For those of you who aren't aware of Nellie's past history...let's just say he's widely considered to be one of the least ethical, most likely to stab you in the back guys in the NBA....and this goes all the way back to his days as a player for the Celtics....he's had problems with players, owners, co-workers....you name it...always the same....he's a control freak who will lie to your face to get what he wants....most of the stories about his Bull$H!t ways are out there for you to see....I'm not saying Jackson is a great guy, but it takes two to have a disagreement

"jackson is a stand-up guy"- someone above said this. Isnt this the same guy that shot a gun in air outside a club and was with ron artest and co fighting in the crowd with fans? He played the "stand up guy" act for a season or so, got $40M out of it and so now he doesn't have to play that part anymore. And whats with the "I cant be a role model to guys making more money than me"? Thats a nice comment, throughout sports and everyday life there are people making different amounts of money that can still learn from one another.

    another selfish player,
    kobe bryant
    andre kirilenko
    shawn marion
    carlos boozer
    ron artest
to name a few, all players can't lead a team on their own when their team is losing and ask for a trade or money would be a factor also, michael jordan, reggie miller ,chris mullin , david robinson to name a few, when their team wasn't doing well they didn't ask for trades or even complain about money cause basketball was in their blood!

That's what you get when you hire Don Nelson. He gets lousey teams up to contending teams, then he falls flat! Teams never gets his teams to the promised land! As for Jackson, he has always been a selfish player. It impossible to make a guy like Jackson into a team player. Nellie like team players. Jaskson was clearly a mistake by the Warriors!
