Memo to all New York Knicks fans who chant "Fire Isiah" Sunday at the Garden: For the first time, your voices will be heard in the team's executive suites. In fact, what you're yelling for is pretty much in the works.

Isiah Thomas returns home for the first time since Garden chairman James Dolan stripped him of his president's title last week and hired Donnie Walsh to run the Knicks. Now it's only a matter of days before Thomas also gets the boot from his seat on the team bench.

Now working for Stan Van Gundy and the Orlando Magic, which comes to town Sunday night, Ewing is going to have a pregame session with the media to speak about his candidacy for the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame. Results will be known Monday. Ewing's best chance to catch on will probably be as an assistant if Mark Jackson winds up as Thomas' successor. Scott Skiles also has been mentioned for the top job, but he might be more inclined to import coaches from his old Chicago Bulls staff. Walsh probably will allow his next head coach to pick his own assistants.

Ewing could show his players where the best strip clubs are in each town, along with the nastiest ho's too.

Well it's about time! I have been going crazy watching this guy (Isiah) kill this team. Don't forget what he did to the Toronto Raptors and the CBA. I guess the NBA suits also had enough, Stern must have said something really good to (brain dead) Dolan. to make him hire Walsh. 53-105 would get anybody fired even if he was the most loved guy in the city. Get rid of all the asst. coaches as well (hold it! not Herb Williams) I would like to read about this team or watch a highlight on TV and not have them made fun of. If they get Patrick as coach it will bring some class back to the team and have them going in the right direction.

Hate to burst your bubble fellow New York Knick fans, but if you think Donnie Walsh is the answer, GUESS AGAIN. I am a native of Indiana and live near Indianapolis , where the Pacers play and just Google the Indiana Pacers and see what you get. Nothing but newspaper headlines about their THUG players. Donnie Walsh was run out of Indiana and Larry Bird if he is not careful will be next. I used to be a big New York knick fan when Ewing and Company were there, and Im not sure about Mark Jackson either. Super nice guy, great player and never in trouble. However I am a firm believer that a team in disaray needs experience and Jackson has no coaching experience.

#5 i kno exactly what you are speaking about.... only one thing i will give donnie in this situation.......he is a fellow BRONX boy and i hope his intentions to bring back a contender are realistic...,,, i am a little bit worried with all the hype about walsh..., and yet, i have said before his past track record with indiania is not a good one ........ AT ALL! If he can give it one more push in the big apple to make it a great team ,,only time will tell.... We are NOW stuck with walsh .. so get use to it.... Hopefully he does a great job... time will tell,, I like pat ewing as a special assistant if the team acquires a good big man....and then move up as the team has progress...A HEAD COACH with expertise ,, that has been around the league wearing that HEAD COACH cap on would be more to everyone's liking....the problem with ewing is this............. if he fails and the teams bombs out again... the fans would want to fire him also...they need a 40 win season again.. otherwise it will be a bumpy ride for whoever coaches them...

i would prefer not to see PAT in a very very difficult position ,, right away..he will catch alot of slack from the fans when they are losing... now if they play hard every night and are competitive the fans will see this... IF is a big word right now with the NYK! HE would bring back class ,, no doubt... and possibly alot of hard fouls when driving down the middle... Can he sustain the NY arrogance? Can he deal with a bad losing season? IS pat good with the media? (in the past he was not)!!!

I WOULD like to see pat ewing as a assistant coach with the knicks.... he deserves at least that... and if the head coach does not work out fire him and then let EWING step up..... do not set up ewing for another disgraceful embarresment by not letting him have great players to work with like in the past..... it can destroy him by losing out again...PAT SIGN as assistant only... do your self a favor dont set your self up for a big fall....do not let the ego get in the way... YET ,, the other end of it can be this/////////if the front office promises to bring down the cap... in a year or 2 you will be like doc rivers....it is a tricky move...Yet if and when the NYK win the next championship or even get to the finals... it would be great for PATRICKKKKKKK EWINGGGGGGG to be the head coach!!! he does deserve that..,, again my only question is can PAT deal with the NY MEDIA???they are nasty....

Why wait till the end of the season for a new coach? They could just have guest coaches each game till then. Let Chris Rock coach a game-then Spike Lee-then Charlie Sheen.

Patrick Ewing, how can anyone so inarticulate run a New York ball club and expect the media to find him able to meet their needs for interviewing interest. Will the players put up with his inarticulate manner? I don't know.(Don't tell me about Casey Stengel) Now if I'm wrong about Patrick Ewing, please correct me.

As a Knicks fan, I'd like to see Ewing coach the bigs, Clyde coach the guards, Oakley defense. Walsh should bring in Mullin or Mark Jackson as GM. Carlisle, Cleamons (LA) or Laimbeer in as coach. The Knicks need to bring in guys that have name recognition and a strong sense of TEAM in their basketball careers. This development of a strong TEAM will begin in the front office. Walsh must a vision for the team and surround himself with guys that share and support his vision.
