Dwyane Wade is willing to share the load when it comes to the Miami Heat's search for answers at point guard. But he insists he is not the solution. Despite starting his NBA career as a point guard, Wade reiterated he has no desire to return to the position.

"Do I want to set up the offense every time? No, I don't want to do that," he said, as his basketball camp wound down at Florida International University. "I would love to get somebody else in that can handle the ball, as well, at times, and make plays."

Wade said that was why he hinted at a preference for Memphis point guard Derrick Rose before the NBA Draft and also spoke of the virtues of Southern Cal guard O.J. Mayo. Rose went No. 1 overall to Chicago, with Kansas State forward Michael Beasley taken at No. 2 by the Heat and Mayo No. 3 by Minnesota before being dealt to Memphis.

"Last year, and maybe even the year before, where I was kind of the only one who was penetrating and making plays, it gets to the point where teams sag," Wade said. "It makes it easy on them. That's why they're able to zone, because they know I'm the only one that's going to penetrate. So we have to get somebody else that's going to break the defense down."

It would make perfect sense to bring in someone who can penetrate. If you use the lineup: Wade at the 2, Haslem at the 3, Marion at the 4 and Beasley at the 5.... you're looking at a great lineup. Just have to get someone who can handle the one to give the heat the push they need!

Beasley cannot play the 5. He's not big enough to play that position in the league. He's going to be able to post someone like Shaq or Yao? No way. But Wade is right. The heat are in DESPERATE need of a true point guard because the ones we have now are not doing the job. And Pat Riley needs to make some major moves before Dwyane Wade decides to leave after his contract expires. That would be a MAJOR disaster.

I would've said get Duhon until the Knick waaaay overpaid him. As a long-time Bulls fan I know Duhon can play the point guard postion in it's traditional form... pass first, penetrate second, hit the open three, and occasionally create his own jumper.

Beasley would be perfect trade bait for the Heat to get a point guard and a respectable big man. The Heat would have been much better off to draft Mayo than Beasley. He would have filled a bigger need and I predict that Beasley, with his immature attitude and poor work ethic, will spend too much time in Riley's doghouse and be a major bust.

Just put mario chalmers there, we drafted him in second round, and he is clearly mature to play at a PG position with winning the NCAA championship. He can shoot, and definetly penatrate. Just has to work on some ball handling a little bit.

Given D-Wade's style of play, he takes enough contact without having to penetrate all the time in setting up the offense. MIA needs to get a top flight PG to get him and Beasley the ball in the right places.
Question is, who's out there who will fit the bill? Duhon's off the market (and in a total mess), maybe Livingston (assuming LAC cuts him loose), or do they resign J-Will?

I forgot about Chalmers, give him a chance, and also have Banks, who maybe ready to mature and assume the job? Couple of big if's, can MIA afford to wait if veteran PG is out there?
How about Barea? From Puerto Rico, would be a hit with the fans, and plays solid.

Yeah? what decent point guard is gonna want give up the ball to you and let you be the point guard in the last minutes? And you have lost so many games in the last minutes of games the last couple years. The year heat won the championship...you were good but you wouldn't have done that wihtout Shaq. You need a paxon of kerr as a point guard. They can stand around and pass the ball to you. No decent point guard would want to play alongside of you. You are a ball hog..make careless mistakes...wrong decisions...can't shoot 15feet out. led the league in turnovers the last few years...and too small to play defense against big guards....you are not much better than gordon of Bulls.

The Heat needs help everywhere......... the championship was traded to the Suns last year at mid season....i.e. see the THE LAKERS after trading Shaq the next 4 yrs and that's THE HEAT minus the playoffs
