Vujacic goes from toast of town to just toast

Sasha Vujacic went from the toast of the town to getting toasted, a snapshot of the Lakers' stunning fall Thursday in Game 4.

His 20-point effort in Game 3 saved their series, but his failure to stop Ray Allen on a game-deciding drive symbolized the final breakdown for the Lakers in a 97-91 loss to Boston.

In an isolation play that started above the three-point line, Allen drove past Vujacic and scored on a left-handed layup to give the Celtics a 96-91 lead with 16.4 seconds to play.

"I wanted to stay with him and I wanted to play him aggressive, but . . . there would be a foul, so I kind of stepped back and gave him the room to operate and he went to the basket," Vujacic said. "So that was the defensive decision on my side."

The Lakers immediately called a timeout. Someone behind the bench offered a reassuring gesture by briefly rubbing Vujacic's shoulder after he sat down, but Vujacic sharply threw an elbow before throwing a towel on his head.

    sasha, you need to think first before you take your shaot because kobe is getting mad at you all the time, you just got lucky on hte first half because thats when you we're hitting all your basket but at the end your nothing but just a regular basketball player....you are not a superstar yet, as what you thinking....shame on you and I canfeel it that you are going to get traded....watch.....

    I just want to say WAY TO GO CELTICS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!WOW, now that was a nail bitting game. I never doubted for one second that the Lakers were going to win. They started out great. Their bench beat the Celtics no doubt, but I knew that the C's BIG 3 were going to find a way back into this game. I am so happy for them. Keep up the good work guys. Just remember to play YOUR game. Pierce, you are so awesome. Great advice you gave to the team after halftime. Always play YOUR game.

    Lakers fans only show up when they think they can win, they don't stay till the end and the only go to the game because "its the cool thing to do" Lakers better luck next year.....and here come the KObe "I hate my team tantrums" and the "I need to be traded I hate it here" Kobe grow a sack and man up

    Great win for the Celtics! I'm amazed that Paul Pierce gets all the media attention. It was RAY ALLEN (who played the entire game - 48 minutes) who was the game MVP and the guy who is the series (four games) MVP so far. Ray is cool, confident, unassuming, modest and passes the ball to his teammate (unlike Paul Pierce). The Celts are in the driver's seat...let's hope they can get the job done sooner versus later. It aint over till the fat lady sings!

    Koby talking about a lot of wine,beer and shots to get over it. Hope he's not at some bar or if he is he has someone drive him home. That would stink and be embarrassing to be arrested before a finals game.

    It was a tough game but the better team won. The Celtics will be the Champs. tough pill to swallow for Laker fans but that's the realiity it's a hard lesson but for a young team its a good one as well...

    Everybody on the Celtics will step up when needed.Last night, it was Ray, Rondo came on strong for a game, and everybody remembers the Truth coming up out of the wheelchair like Benny Hinn and Oral Roberts were in the training room. Now watch KG stick a fork in the Lakers. Kobe can't carry this team, and there is no relief valve for him like Shaq was on their champioship teams. Gasol is playing like he did for the Grizzlies; he is nowhere near being a franchise player, and now he's jeopardizing the Laker run by flopping like darling Nikki. I said it before, and I'll say it again.....Celtics in 5!!!

    I like what a Boston fan stated in another blog.........."The NBA Finals was the Cavs and Celtics series."
