NBA - Scoop Du Jour

Toronto Raptors big man Andrea Bargnani(notes) is a native of Rome and may soon be playing professional ball there. Virtus Roma owner Claudio Toti tells Il Messaggero that the team has been talking to Bargnani about having him come play there, according to Sportando.

"In my opinion, if he decides to play in Italy, he will sign just with us," Toti said, Sportando reports. "Even if we had agreed on the salary, the biggest hurdle is the insurance to cover his contract with Toronto Raptors." Toti said he is waiting to find out exactly how much insurance will cost and that he will need sponsors to help pay for it: "I want him not to sell jerseys or more tickets," Toti said. "I want him for winning games."

The 25-year-old Bargnani averaged 21.8 points, 5.2 rebounds and 1.8 assists per game last season for Toronto.
