Minnesota Timberwolves president David Kahn apparently just got back from a second little trip to Spain to visit his recruit, Ricky Rubio(notes), and get a sense of his team's chances of seeing Rubio playing in the Land of 10,000 Lakes this season, according to the ST. Paul Pioneer Press.

Kahn is apparently feeling upbeat about the possibility, even though Rubio still has to pay his current team, DKV Joventut, $6.6 million to get out of his contract. Recent reports had Rubio negotiating that number down a few million dollars and the ability to pay it off in a series of payments over a few years. Sounds like a done deal, right? Well, not quite yet.

One of the things that is giving Kahn hope is that Rubio has not signed on with any other European team, which he was supposedly considering earlier this off-season, according to the Minneapolis Star Tribune. That likely hasn't happened because those other teams don't want anything to do with that massive buyout, either.

Wonder if the 18-year-old point guard is regretting entering himself into the draft just yet. And if he ever gets into a Timberwolves getup, will he be worth all the fuss?
