NBA - Sports Rumors

The Portland Trail Blazers' dogged pursuit of David Lee could result in Marcus Camby returning to New York, according to the New York Daily News.

New York Knicks president Donnie Walsh denied that he is working on a three-way deal with the Blazers and Los Angeles Clippers, but several team sources confirmed that Walsh and the Knicks' coaching staff have discussed the possibility of adding Camby, who was traded from Denver to the Clippers last July.

Portland has been trying for months to acquire Lee, who will become a restricted free agent this summer. Mike D'Antoni would prefer to have the athletic 7-foot Camby as his center as opposed to the 6-9 Lee, who has improved offensively but has struggled on the defensive end.

There was a report of the Knicks being involved in a deal that would send Quentin Richardson to the Clippers and Lee to Portland, with the Knicks getting back Camby and former Knicks first-round pick Channing Frye. Walsh, however, denied having discussed that trade with the Clippers and Blazers.

Camby, 34, has developed into one of the game's best rebounding and defensive centers. He is averaging 12.8 points, 13.3 rebounds and 2.8 blocked shots this season for the Clippers. Ten years ago, Camby played a significant role in helping the Knicks reach the NBA Finals.

I would love to see that trade happen as a Knicks fan. I love Lee but he will never be more than what he is now. He will also; along with Nate Robinson, eat up alot of our 2010 Lebron (Cap) Space when they resign. Channing we can let go eventually and Camby by then will demand less money in order to get the Chip and play with Bron and Bosh.

Thats a pretty athletic team. They should be able to run everyone into the ground offensively and defensively.

David Lee is the future. A hard worker who pulls is a sure double-double every game. Kind of like the white Dennis Rodman, but with more skill on the offensive end. CAMBY IS OLD. ASK THE BLAZERS IF THEY WANT MARBURY INSTEAD

Now David Lee is a player the Lakers can use. He is like a Luke the fluke walton but better rebounder, good passer, can shoot and works hard. I think bringing david lee to the lakers can toughen up the lakers he'll be perfect for that foward position i think.

They shouldnt have traded him so long ago for that bum McDyess. With that said though now, its pointless to trade for him now. His contract is up in 2010. So you arent playing for anything in the next 2 seasons.
If you really have to trade Lee (Which I am against btw) you only trade him to dump Eddy Currys contract. That is it. Other than that I am waiting for 2010 when Nash, Bosh, and LeBron come to NY.

camby IS a good fit for mike d's style, he's quick and runs the floor well...its the wide bodied, slow it down post oriented centers that don't fit, camby is noe of those things, hes a great shot blocker and probably the best rebounder in the league, the gets to a lot of balls....this could make new yrk a lot better....and why on earth would the clippers make this move? for Q? why, don't they already have a a few no defense spot up shooters? and the blazers get lee and all they have to give up is frye? there has to be others involved....this is def a move to lure lbj...and the clips get the raw end of the deal...

Um. Laker dude. How does this have ANYTHING to do with Lakers? It's the Clippers that are rumored to be involved. Oh and BTW.... who cares. Nobody gets any better IF the trade happens anyway. The Knicks can make all the salary room they want. That doesn't guarantee anything. EVERY team in the NBA will change rosters by the time 2010 arrives. Lets not be hasty and think everyone wants to play in NY either.

If we can get Camby without losing Lee, I like it. Maybe Curry/Jeffries and Richardson for Camby and Frye. I like the idea of getting Frye back...a big who can hit the 15-17 footer. He makes big men come out of the lane and guard him, which opens up the middle more. Plus he's 6'11' and along with Camby (6'11'') it vastly will help our front line and gives us an edge on the boards every night.

To those who choose to actually believe this: I know the Clips are bone-headed, but NY, do you actually think they they will deal Camby for Quentin Richardson? For QR you'd be lucky to pry Brian Skinner from the Clips. This is yet another idiotic Yahoo posting of a delusioned NY Daily News report. Natl. Enquirer has more substance.
