If the free-agent list this summer isn't crowded enough already, it just got a bit bigger. The Phoenix Suns may lose 6-foot-11 center Channing Frye(notes) to free agency this summer. According to the Arizona Republic, Frye is declining his player option for next season and joining a list of free agents this summer that includes LeBron James(notes), Chris Bosh(notes), Dwyane Wade(notes), Raymond Felton(notes), and perhaps his fellow teammate Amar'e Stoudemire(notes) if he decides to also opt out.
Frye must figure he's got a good product to sell right now since he's averaging 11.2 points, 5.3 rebounds, 1.4 assists and about a block a game in about 27 minutes per contest. He's even got his highest 3-point percentage of his career going right now at 43.7 percent.
The word from the Arizona Republic is Frye would like to stay in Phoenix but figures he can make more than the $2.1 million he was scheduled to make for the team next season.
