Sent home after just one game of the rodeo road trip because of continuing problems with his left ankle, San Antonio Spurs guard Tony Parker spent the previous three weeks undergoing treatment and working on exercise equipment to maintain his cardiovascular conditioning.
He declared himself pain-free before Tuesday's game against the Charlotte Bobcats and hoped to talk coach Gregg Popovich into giving him some playing time. Popovich allowed Parker to suit up, but not to take the court. However, the MVP of the 2007 NBA Finals likely will get about 10 minutes when the Spurs play the Minnesota Timberwolves on Thursday at the Target Center in Minneapolis.
"I just didn't want to pull the trigger (Tuesday)," Popovich said. "I want to give him a little more rest. I think he'll get some minutes in Minnesota. Not many, but he'll play."
