Free-agent shooting guard Shannon Brown(notes) has won two championships in the last two years with the Los Angeles Lakers. The New York Knicks would love to add that kind of street cred to their roster. But Brown's agent tells the New York Post that his client is "leaning" toward returning to the City of Angels to try for a third straight title.
The final decision between New York and L.A. is expected Thursday. Brown averaged 8.1 points, 2.2 rebounds and 1.3 assists in an average 20.7 minutes per game last season.
The Post reports that the Knicks offered Brown the full $2.7 million that they had under the cap in a one-year deal so they wouldn't affect their chances at making a run at Denver Nuggets forward Carmelo Anthony(notes) next summer.
"The Knicks did a great job selling Shannon on everything and their vision for him,'' agent Mark Bartelstein said. "They did a great job but the chance to go back and win a third championship for the Lakers is a tough thing to pass up. He'll make a final decision (Thursday).''
