Former Boston Celtics center-forward Brian Scalabrine(notes) may soon be cramming his 6-9 frame onto a plane bound for Europe. The Boston Globe is reporting that Scalabrine would prefer playing in the NBA next season, but the offers haven't been stellar, so he could head overseas.
"I don't know what my plans are," he told the paper. "I'm just keeping it wide open. I've got good offers overseas, but my goal is to play in the States for one more year and see what comes from it."
The nine-year veteran averaged 1.5 points, 0.9 rebounds and 0.1 blocks per game last year for Boston while playing an average of 9.1 minutes per game. He tells the paper he'd like to play again for the Celtics, who he's been with since 2005, and find out what Shaquille O'Neal(notes) is really like, but the appearance of Shaq on the Boston roster has made him expendable.
