The Houston Rockets would like to sign one of the top free-agent power forwards, such as Chris Bosh(notes) or Amar'e Stoudemire(notes), but they would have to do a sign-and-trade deal in order to stay under the salary cap.
Yahoo! Sports' Marc J. Spears has learned from his league sources that the Rockets are offering Trevor Ariza(notes), Shane Battier(notes) and free-agent Luis Scola(notes) to other teams in hopes of getting such a deal done.
Bosh was the first man Rockets general manager Daryl Morey met with moments after the free-agency window opened to try and convince him that life could be much sweeter in Houston than it was for him in Toronto as a Raptor.
Scola would also need to agree to the sign-and-trade in this scenario. If the Rockets can't make this whole scenario work, the plan is to get Scola re-signed, Spears reports.
