Miami Heat center Shaquille O'Neal has been selected to the All-Star Game in 14 of his first 15 seasons. However, it's looking like he won't be named to this season's squad, as Dwight Howard of the Orlando Magic has a huge lead in balloting and Chris Bosh (Toronto Raptors) or Rasheed Wallace (Detroit Pistons) likely to get the backup nod.
"Obviously, Howard is head and shoulders, numbers-wise and everything, above everybody else," Heat coach Pat Riley said. "But this is a media thing, that if there was enough compassionate media members who wanted to do that, see him in, they could get a groundswell of support for the coaches to vote him on.
"I think he deserves it. After all, it's what the All-Star Game is all about. I would support that."
