Riley-Shaq round 2: Riley says Shaq stabbed Heat in the back

Pat Riley came out punching Thursday, refusing to remain the punching bag of his former championship center. After two days of jabs from Shaquille O'Neal about the way Riley handled him during the center's tenure with the Miami Heat, Riley fired his own stinging blow about what clearly has become a bitter parting.

"We have sutured up the stab wounds in the back," Riley said, before coaching the Heat against the Pistons at the Palace of Auburn Hills. "So everybody's waiting for another onslaught. That's how we look at it."

Told of Riley's disappointment following the center's initial comments about the Heat, O'Neal used an expletive to say he didn't care.

    What are you talking about? The bottom line is Shaq wanted to leave, and we needed his salary gone to rebuild. There's no reason to be talking trash about each other. They were so in love it looked like they were dating 3 years ago.

    Every teams Shaq left he stabbed their backs. he did it in Orlando, Lakers now Miami and he will be doing it with the Suns. He is just a no good worthless person without class.

    Like I said before, Shaq needs to shut-up. He needs to move on. It is not the Heat's fault that his Wife cheated on him. He is just a big sour-poss right now. Shut-up and look how slow and out of place you look in Phoenix. Coach Riley made only one mistake, and that is thinking that you were good for another 3 years. You are done so now your mouth is moving faster than your body. Don't go out like that, you don't want the fans to remember you as a player that whereever he played left leaving a bad impression. Yes we won a championship with your help, thanks and now move on and shup-up.

    Shaq is nothing more then a washed up opportunist, I think there is a pattern happening with Shaq, he hates Kobe then he call's him the Kobester and he is the M.V.P. then he loves Riles then he hates Riles, talk about an EGO give me a break. Shaq go to Orlando and screw them up, keep up the good work Big Cactus...... The Sun's will figure this out very soon, give it 11 more games, then Shaq will be talking smack about Kerr...... oh yeah is Shaq talking smack about his wife, I THINK SO...........

    All of these comments are hilarious! I agree that Shaq is older and surely slower; heck he admitted taht in a interview saying Phoenix is the place to come to retire. What's hilarious is how all of these posted comments degrade Shaq. How in the heck can anyone one of you DEGRADE a man that has made millions during each year he has been in the NBA, which apparently each of you watch since you are so qualified to criticize. Remember, none of the previous team owners/coaches had their arms twisted to bring Shaq aboard - not to mention that he brought multiple titles to the Lakers' organization and shortly after his arrival to Miami - to the sorely Heat. See the pattern? Shaq = title (s). I'm loving this!

    By the way, speaking of back stabbing, I am so pulling for the Magic and Van Gundy! With realization, I know that Boston is leadin the East, with Detroit close behind, but Orlando is in the mix. As a true NBA fan, I really feel that Stan Van Gundy got a raw deal and the phrase that so many of you have used "back stabber" may be applied to Riley. You know that they say, "Pay back is a Mother!"

    Thanks # 18 Pat Riley stabbed Vangundy in the back. What do you expect haters. I talked about the jobs I left in the past.I am sure you did the same. Its all about the dead presidents. You and every NBA fan that think these players and coaches are heroes should get a grip on life. These guys are not perfect, you are living in a dream world.

    It is sort of ironic, isn't it?? Riley ends up with an expansion team after winning Van Gundy's championship, knife handle still visible in Stan's back. Now, Shaq out Riley's Pat Riley with a knife of his own. Shaq shouldn't have bashed his ex-team mates and medical staff, though. That was crappy...
    Actually, they both essentially did each other a favor. Shaq gets to jump off a sinking ship and Riley gets to clear $20 million off the books for next year.

First of all, I personally don't give a flying f--- how much money O'Neal makes. Secondly, it's the fans (even the most stupid of them) who essentially pay his salary. If it wasn't for the fans buying tickets to the games, paying for parking, buying consessions,watching on TV, paying for cable/satelite, calling in to sports radio stations, buying the advertised products, investing in memorabilia and commenting on Internet blogs and message boards such as this one, professional sports as we know it wouldn't exist. That alone gives anyone the right to say whatever they want, no matter how uneducated they may be (And we all know there are plenty of them around). Besides, as far as I'm concerned, as deserving as O'Neal and Riley are for unanimous Hall-of Fame induction, this whole thing is nothing more than a stupid slap fight between two immature, highly paid, major league back-stabbing rats. It isn't newsworthy.
