“MichaelPart of the legend of Michael Jordan is that back in high school, he got cut from the team, but the word is now that this never happened, according to the Charlotte Observer.

Jordan was supposedly cut from the Laney High varsity team when he was a sophomore, which then inspired him to work that much harder to be that much harder. But physical education teacher Ruby Sutton, who was teaching gym back in those days, too, is saying all 10th graders got put on JV back then. "Him not making the varsity that year was not his motivator -- he was motivated well before that. He just always wanted to be the best."

This is BS, His HS coach interviewed and said that he was cut. Look back at his first few videos he made, and it is right their and sold as MJ video of his life story. So who is telling the correct story????????? Most likely the news reporters from the Charlotte Observer is NOT!!!!!!!!

Big whoop, either way. Who cares what he did in high school? He was great in college, and greater in the pros. Wish he devoted 1/1000 the energy into being a GM as he did to being a player. He sucks as a GM.

That's interesting but there are two problems: 1) There has been several videos with the actual coach who claims to have cut him and explained why he cut him. 2) That would mean that Michael and his mother who supposedly comforted him when he came home in tears over it lied to the world.

Mark Miller you call yourself a journalist?
If so get all the facts because as it has been said by everyone on this site he DID get cut.
Sounds like Ruby Sutton is trying to not have his H.S. look stupid.
You just trying to get some brownie points for reporting a rumor, Lame.
    You're fired!

Jordan was a great player, but is and always has been clueless and classless. The badmouthing of his opponents in his induction speech was in very poor taste. This guy apparently is a sore winner, if there can even be such a thing. Now his speech from the HOF induction solidifies something about him forever...Jordan is a horses ass.

Cmon people you cannot connect the present without touching the past, how can you compare the stats if you will not discuss the past. I 've seen the ceremony twice and MJ was a class and wholesome from start to finish that night. Whats wrong with saying he doesnt want to be in the shoes of his kids, they will always be compared and if you are his kids and saw the shining moment of their Dad which was shown before his speech you will feel like a minuscule. Michael Jordan will always be Michael Jordan and I will treasure what he did in the league as a player and as the part owner of the Bobcats.
Go go go go go go Kobe the present MJ.

The Jordan legacy is over. Let it go Mike. You are washed up as a player, and now you are washed up in the public's eyes, so just let it go. You are so oblivious to reality, it makes me sick. I wouldn't want to be your kids either. You probably make them sit around and watch old game tape, so that they don't forget who their father is. How many former players showed up to the induction to give you support, and all you could muster up was a insincere compliment to Pip? How about giving Paxson or Kerr some props for hitting some game winning shots that gave you 6 titles. No Class, Mike, No Class.
