There's been a lot of resistance to the New Jersey Nets' planned move to Brooklyn, but the company line is still that the new arena there will be built and the team will move on over when that is done. But there is apparently a contingent within the team's offices that would love it if the team just moved to Newark; played at the home of the New Jersey Devils, the Prudential Center; and scrapped the whole crazy plan to build an arena in the most crowded part of Brooklyn, according to the Newark Star-Ledger.
The Nets play at the Prudential Center tonight and there are some who believe that if the team can get enough fans to show up for the preseason game, it'll at least show the biggest wigs on the team that people will come out for games in Newark more than they do at the team's current home, the Izod.
If nothing else, a good turnout could help the Izod become the interim home of the Nets while the Brooklyn arena is built.
