The New Jersey Nets are seriously considering a deal that would send All-Star point guard Jason Kidd to the Los Angeles Lakers. The Lakers have offered two first-round draft picks and several expiring contracts, in return. Chris Mihm, Aaron McKie and Jordan Farmar have been mentioned, as has center Kwame Brown. Nets' center Jason Collins could also be involved.

I dont think that would be a good trade for the lakers.why give up so many picks for Jason? he is 34yrs and collins is not better than brown or mihm. lakers would be loosing on that deal

Don't get excited, sports fans. Haven't the Nuggets shown us that this kind of trade doesn't bring immediate dividends??

If this trade happens, the Lakers go from the 6th best team to the 3rd in the West. This still doesn't put them above the Suns and Mavs.

In reference to comment 8, Kidd is a passer....iverson is a scorer. There's a major difference. Why wouldn't work?

Would be a cool trade to see it happen but even with Kidd the Lakers still stand no chance vs. Dallas. or Phoenix. or San Antonio. or Utah. or Houston. Still be cool trade though.

With the Nuggets they got 2 of the same type of players. Kidd and Kobe could co-exist easier than Iverson and Melo. The Lakers should be looking for another dominating big man rather than another guard. Just my opinion though...

Lakers would not have the right big men for the next 2-3 years minimum - Bynum just is not going to be ready.
Lakers are better off going for Garnett if they can get him.
Kidd + Collins for Farmar, McKie, Brown + draft rights

I'm a bay area guy who happens to love the Lakers and Jason Kidd. I would love to see Kidd wearing a Laker uni but I'm not sure that it will be worth all the draft picks and players for an aging star. Kobe does need another star on his side like Mj had with Pippen , I don't think Kidd is the anwser though.

Kidd solves the turnover problems, but the Lakers don't play team defense. As a team they don't cover for each other defensively or mask each other defensive weaknesses very well. Kidd is also going through and ugly divorce, which WILL affect him mentally. They're pretty close now, no need to trade valuable picks or the future in Farmar. Keep you picks (and pick wisely), give the young guys another year to mature and pick up a solid "firecracker" type of defensive player on the free agent market. 2008 season will be much better.

I've been a Lakers fan for as long as I can remember. And getting Kidd would be like us drafting Magic waaaay back when point guards were point guards. So what he's 34! Excuse me if I'm wrong but isn't Dikembe like 60 still chasing Kareem! I say roll the dice and let's see what Nash and Dirk have to say when we hoist the trophy once again!

Mitch needs to do something! Smush is playing like smush he is not a NBA point he is a back up at best! With J. Kidd the Lakers will be a a top 3 team no doubt. They will run and gun with a legit point guard. I would rather them trade Smush and the contracts not Farmar

Kidd is great all around, but what the lakers need is a big man to clean up on the boards. We saw with the return of Odom that the kind of rebs Odom gets, 2-3 feet away from the basket, aren't helping. I can't believe I'm saying this, but we need Kwame Brown more than anything else right now to get battle and grab those defensive rebs and prevent easy baskets.

this cant possibly not work out for the lakers. KB, Kidd, Odom is a great triple threat and if Bynum ever figures out how to use his size, the Lakers should have another dynasty in the making. This trade however wont make them better than either the Suns or Mavs.
