J.R. Rider hasn't been in the NBA since he put in 10 games with the Denver Nuggets way back in 2001-02, but the word is that the New Jersey Nets are thinking about giving the 38-year-old a chance in training camp to return to the NBA, according to the Minneapolis Star-Tribune.
Rider has a troubling history of arrests and convictions and teams that wanted to just ditch him for being a distraction but he appears to be a wanted man right now. If it doesn't work out with the Nets, which is how most expect things to go, Rider apparently has a deal that he's working out with American Basketball Association's North Texas Fresh as well as with a European team.
Rider has supposedly been getting himself into shape by playing pickup games with college guys in the suburbs of Phoenix, where he lives now.
