NBA said Fisher fouled Barry

Talk about a late whistle. Twenty-four hours after he collided with the San Antonio Spurs' Brent Barry with Game 4 of the Western Conference finals on the line, the Los Angeles Lakers' Derek Fisher was called for a foul.

"With the benefit of instant replay, it appears a foul call should have been made," said a statement by NBA spokesman Tim Frank.

With the Spurs trailing by two, Barry, a 95% free-throw shooter in the regular season, would have been given a two-shot foul, giving the Spurs a shot at overtime in a game in which they never led. Unfortunately for San Antonio, the admission does nothing more than set the record straight. The result will not change, the Spurs still trailing 3-1 in the best-of-seven series after walking off the AT&T Center court Tuesday night 93-91 losers.

Game 5 is tonight at Staples Center.

with the benefit of instant replay, Time Duncan traveled down the lane and Derek Fisher grazed the rim giving the Lakers 24 seconds left instead of 2 and the game would not have ended the way it did.

I expected a lot of complaining from Spurs fans....but I guess, like their team, they are too classy to whine.
Very obvious that the Lakers were the better team and that they got the short end of almost all of the official's calls.

How about the NBA go back and review all the non-calls from the Jazz series while they're at it?

NBA games are a show which run by refs. How could u miss obvious call like traveling by Duncan.Fisher shot did hit the rim.Bryant had 1 or 2 free throws while being guard by multiple in San Antonio while he was average 10-16 FT a game..FBI needs to investigate this for possible GAME FIXING.If the NBA wants to consider basketball as clean sport they need instant replay which teams can challenge.

BRAVO #5!!!!!!!!!!!! ENOUGH SAID! THE LAKERS ARE THE BETTER TEAM! The refs blew all the calls that night but the Spurs would not have had a chance at the last shot had the refs gottent he D-Fish call right prior to that, the Lakers would have shot two free throws and the Spurs would have been down 4 points anyway! This whole thing is becoming a joke, it's unfair to the Lakers players. I hope this doesn't become a distraction for them tonight. The NBA should beashamed of themselves for makeing this statement at thispoint before such an important game for the Lakers. The Spurs caonly blae themsleves for waiting unil hefinal 54 seconds to play good, they had been shut dw all game and missed a ton of shots. Theyplay an ugly game it's finally catching up to them. LAKERS RULE!!!!!!!!!! Popovich can't out coach PJ and i's eating him up, he's only beate PJonce heads up and that's cause he Lakersblew it that year. Pil Jackson is the Master of coaching!

    What should've been said:
"With the benefit of instant replay, it appears Derrick Fisher's shot in the final seconds hit the rim, the 24 second clock should've been reset, likely resulting in the Lakers running out the clock or being intentionally fouled, thus negating the whole 'was Barry fouled or not' controversy," said a statement by NBA spokesman Tim Frank.

It was not a foul!!! why is it the NBA never admit that most of the calls that night are for Spurs. Look at what Duncan did..... Fish shot that touches the rim. Kobe never had any free throws? MVP no free throws. GO LAKERS.. close the series tonite..........

Given the benefits of instant replay, Berry TRAVELED before he went into Fisher. His pivot foot lifted before he put the ball on the floor! And Duncan obviously TRAVELED earlier in the game on his drive down the lane!

i feel that the spurs should've never let the game be left up to the ref's to decide, they should've taken care of business and sealed the deal period.

atleast that non call on barry gives the haters a reason for the lakers winning the series (when we win)....i can hear it now lakers only won cause of the non call on barry, then they'll tell us we shouldent be proud of the win.....hey we cant help a non call just like you guy's cant help it if the refs turned the other way when fisher's shot hit the rim, it is what it is ........

#17 take your asterisk and shove it where the sun don't shine. the better team won that game and also game 1 where your spurs faltered and the lakers took it from them. if the ref's hadn't blown so many calls during this last game in wouldn't have been so close at the end. get over it loser!
