Minnesota Timberwolves owner Glen Taylor said Monday that he's pretty sure the team isn't going to trade away the No. 2 pick in this year's draft. "I just think when you get a pick that high, you would want to keep it for the future," he said.
But ESPN reports that a number of GMs from other teams "claim that the Wolves are already talking to teams about the pick." The site notes that consensus No. 2 pick Derrick Williams plays the same spot as two of the Timberwolves' star players, Kevin Love(notes) and Michael Beasley(notes), so the team might as well use the pick to help fill other needs.
If the team deals the pick, it will be "to get back a few solid veterans to stabilize the team," ESPN notes.
