Take out Yao Ming and the Houston Rockets not only were losing his scoring, but it seemed they would also lose the scoring that fell to those in his orbit. Instead, the Rockets' offense has soared, not only despite the loss of Yao, but, they said, because of the experience of playing off him for so long.

"It's a change of course," Luis Scola said. "He's a big part of our team. He's 60, 70 percent of our team. He's so big, so good. Everything is based on him. He changes the whole game. He is a 7-6 guy, so you change the whole defensive system. Now, everything changes. But what we've been talking about, what we've been working on the whole season is to make a real solid team so that whenever someone plays bad or gets an injury, we'll be able to win anyway. We've been doing that. When Tracy (McGrady) got injured, we won. When Yao, was injured, we won. Guys have a bad night and we win."

Specifically, they have continued to score, usually by playing off McGrady and the double teams and help defenses he draws, just as they had the double teams and fronting defenses that were sent to defend Yao.

GO ROCKETS!!! if they continue to shoot the ball the way they are, then they can continue to win games. defense still needs to play a little tighter, and not allow so many points in the paint...

As long as they can the momentum up, they can keep winning. Man, I'm hoping they be a surprise in the playoffs like make it to the second round and WIN!! Probably not but they still need Yao's big presence in the post and it'll show in the playoffs.

Go Rockets! Forget all the comments of they don't have Yao this, or this is just a fluke that. I remember the prior two championships when at first all we had was Hakeem and we won it. With McGrady hitting from all directions and everyone playing so selflessly we can go all the way. Maybe Alston, Landry, Scola and Battier are the Kenny Smiths, Robert Horrys and Sam Cassells of today. Go Rockets, forget all the noise and just win!!!!!

Making a run at second place in the west and the "experts" are still debating whether or not the Rockets will even make the playoffs. Cute....

I gotta admit as a Spurs fan, Rockets scares me a little bit. Glad to see them not lose their cool even after Yao's injury. This is gonna be an awesome playoffs year, best time to be an NBA fan!

I like rucky's comment. As a Rockets fan, I often pull for the Spurs. Nice to have someone else to go for if your team is out. Can't say the same for the Kool-aid drinkers in Dallas with their garbage squad.
LAKERS 4 LIFE, I appreciated your comment when Yao got injrued about wanting the opponents to be in top shape when they face your team. However, I am not sure you have been watching many Rockets games. T-Mac hasn't mentioned his back for almost 1.5 years and his only minor injuries this year were legit. He looks like he did in his first couple of seasons, pounding the rim and jumping out of the gym. Good luck!

The Rockets can win (I think) 21 straight games. But after that their schedule gets pretty tough with the Lakers and Boston. But if we continue to play the way we have against strong teams like New Orleans and Dallas, then we could make a great run. If we win against L.A., then i think people would consider us more of a threat than they do now, cause for some reason people still dont consider Houston a threat even though we have been blowing out teams without Yao Ming. But I love the way the Rockets have been playing and they need to go strong and finish this week off by beating Boston and L.A. Thanks, Go Rockets!
