Maggette to Spurs not likely

The San Antonio Spurs and Los Angeles Clippers have discussed a trade involving Corey Maggette, but one NBA source said the deal likely won't happen. Maggette would likely get fewer minutes with the Spurs than the 26.3 minutes he's logging with the Clips. Also, Maggette has frustrated current and former coaches with his reluctance to defend and play a role, a couple of things the Spurs would ask of him.

The Spurs would send guards Brent Barry and Beno Udrih. Barry is second in the league in three-point accuracy.

You've got to be kidding!!! I don't care what Maggette is doing, or what his numbers are, he isn't worth Brent Barry!!! Barry comes in and (like Manu) lifts spirits, and makes those big shots. Pop, what are you thinking?!? I hope this trade dries up quick!

please, it is all about chemistry!!! The Spurs are amazing at what they do, and do it better than anyone else in the league. Barry is a key ingredient to this chemistry, both on the floor and in the locker room. I admit that Magette is an amazing talent, but the Spurs are a quality TEAM.....
PS: I am a former Mavericks fan, who has been swayed by the Spurs and their demeanor on and off the floor!!

Please Pop, don't trade team chemistry for latent talent. Don't be fooled by fools gold.

The grass is always greener on the other side. But I think the Spurs are smart enough not to check it out. The Spurs are a "Team" not one individual. I hope they don't mess with their awesome chemistry. Magette is a good player, but what does he bring to the "team" that isn't already there? I hope Pop re-think the notion of a trade.

Don't trade Barry. You cant replace him.He is a great player. Theres no such thing as a replacement for Barry. Beno is just as good as any other player on the spurs.
p.s. It's not a team without Barry, and udrih

Pop, please do not trade Brent. He is doing a great job on the court and possesses a great sense of humor that the Spurs should appreciate. Brent should be able to feel he has a home here in SA.

Maggette's D is not as bad as people say. If this rumor is real, the Spurs are foolish to pass on this deal.

Are you kidding me?? You are comparing Mag and Barry...Barry does nothing but spot up and shoot 20-25 footers. He is good to come off the bench and knock down 2 treys. Maggette is a solid guy who with over 30mins will give you 20pts and 8 boards every night.

Are you guys for real...Maggette will play defense for POP! He can play defense, he's just not right now because of the situation within the Clippers organization and him wanting to leave. He should be able to get starting minutes in San Antonio. Not only will he play defense, but as the starting SF for the spurs he would give them another slasher besides MANU to cause havoc on opposing defenses and he can finish better than MANU and can get to the line as much as MANU as well. Do you know what that means..it means more than likely each quarter the SPURS will be in the penalty shooting 1 and 1's for the final 4-5 mintues...that's automatic WINS. In combination with there defensive game they could once again foil the plans of high powered offensive teams like Dallas and Phoenix. That's the only way to counter the teams designed to run and score tons of shots. Great half court defense and getting to the free throw line alot to score easy points and slow down the tempo of the game. Make the trade POP!!! A Californian SPURS fan,

Beno is just as good as any other player on the spurs? udrih has trouble getting minutes over jacque vaughn. i'd hate to see barry leave the spurs but maggette is a great talent and brings more to the table as far as an all around game. whenever you have a chance to bring in a player like him i think you have to go for it.

Pop, what are you thinking? Maggette's not worth the effort of bringing him in to improve your defense. I mean he's a very talented player, but I don't think he would improve your defense. He's more of an individual player than a team player. Remember there is no "I" in team.
Brent Barry and Beno Udrih have greater team chemistry than Maggette. You'd be disrupting and very defensive minded team. Unless you think that Maggette is going to play team ball...but maybe you can send __ Williams. He hasn't played that much all season because of injury, and then he doesn't get in but on certain points in the game. So that would be an even trade. I hope you reconsider your way of thinking and don't trade Brent and Beno.
