The Los Angeles Lakers made a play for the Minnesota Timberwolves' No. 2 pick in Thursday's draft, offering Lamar Odom(notes) in exchange, according to the Los Angeles Times.
Two NBA officials tell the Times that the Timberwolves turned down the offer by the Lakers and say that L.A. had planned to select Arizona forward Derrick Williams with the selection.
Odom was the NBA's sixth man of the year last year, averaging 14.4 points, 8.7 rebounds, and 3 assists per game.
