Kings' Martin deciding on surgery

“KevinThe Sacramento Kings' best player and the league's third leading scorer at this early point has a hard choice. Kevin Martin(notes) apparently has a hairline fracture in his wrist that he earned when he smacked up against the Memphis Grizzlies' Allen Iverson(notes) Monday night. It didn't stop him from playing Wednesday night. Still, the longer he plays with it, the more likely a full break will occur.

He apparently was told yesterday that he had one night to think about whether he wanted to have surgery on it and put a screw in to stabilize it, simply put it in a cast now and let it heal, or try to just play through the pain.

The cast option would mean being out for six to eight weeks and surely means he'll likely be out for eight weeks minimum.

So he supposedly turned off his phone early last night and went to bed and plans to have a decision today.

OK, it is a hairline fracture in his non-shooting hand. Surgery? A cast? Come on now! Put a brace on it, take some pain reliever and get on the court. The way the King's medical staff are approaching this situation is mind boggling. If he can run, jump and shoot, what else does he need to do? It is not like he is a prime rebounder or shot blocker. He is a spot up shooter and this should not even be an issue.

Kevin hasnt played a season without injury in over 3 years. Dont know what the deal is. If its a bunch of stupid or bad news about NBA players, chances are its probably about my Kings, gotta love it...in 24 hours:
Kevin Martin is having surgery and out 8 weeks
We cut one of our starters(to admit mistake)in Desmond Mason
AND, to top it all off, Nocioni gets a DUI!
Ahhh...it's SO much fun being a Kings fan these last 25 years, lemme tell ya!!

well, hope he gets well soon...
i personally like him... and i am sure he should go under knife and yes, get it back on court asap.
he's only 26 and he can heal fast.. a bit unfortunate, but i am feeling, once he returns, the team will be strong enough..
    good luck Kevin

If he's smart he'll let it heal, the team sucks and bones need proper time to heal or they don't heal right and cause more problems later. Other then missing the All-Star team, he has no reason to play through this.
