Dwight Howard

New Jersey Nets point guard Jason Kidd had an interesting perspective last week on Orlando Magic center Dwight Howard. Kidd said that as Howard continues to develop, he will become a free agent magnet, attracting other top players if the Magic can stay salary-cap flexible.

"What's probably going to happen is he's going to have everybody coming to Orlando to play, so that would just make his game a lot easier," Kidd said. "As he gets older, he will mature into that body. It's just scary, because he could become another Shaq, one of the most dominating players in the game."

He is better than Shaq ever was....Let's hope he doesn't become another Shaq at the free throw line.

KIdd obviously wants to go to Florida - why wouldn't he? Ain't gonna win in Joizy!... Howard IS the next Shaq, and unfortuantely the old Shaq is on a serious decline.

Kidd cant go to Orlando they dont have the trading pieces. HOWEVER,They can make a trade for Jose Calderon,a smart, unselfish, pass first PG that is very low in turnovers and shoots at a high %.He is perfect. Trade Arroyo?Or Nelson?W/Redick?

No, what Orlando needs to do is trade Turkoglu and Redick for a solid mid-level PF that will free up Lewis to play SF and give Howard a partner in the middle to shutdown the paint completely. It is too bad that Milicic couldn't see how dominant the two of them could have been together. Milicic is not a #2 draft choice, but put him next to Howard and he gets 2 blocks 10 rebounds and 15 pts a night and the two of them would have been like Duncan and Robinson.

I think it's a stretch to say that Howard is as good as shaq ever was. He's still young. If and when he starts piling up championship rings we can talk about him being better than shaq ever was.......I also agree with Amannet N. Howard will be dominant, but in a different way than shaq

i like the way howard plays the game, other young guys should take notice and follow his lead, even if he never played college ball,he is good for the NBa as a player and role model.you can tell he is having fun when he is out there.i think he would be more dominant as a pure low post power forward, than center.it would give him more room to dominate.

This team is already dangerous in my opinion and Kidd is right. Especially with bringing in Lewis, it will attract more players and get them interested in joining. I expect Orlando to make another big move this offseason and come out next year as good as the Celtics have come out this year. But supporting a team in the West like I do, I would love to see some of these "good" Eastern teams play a schedule that the Western teams do and see if they have as much success.

Calderon leads the NBA in assists to turnover ratio. And his combined shooting %'s are in the Steve Nash range. The only trade bait Orlando has that would get him would be Howard.
    Stacie
Turkoglu is the Magic's best all around player. Trading him would be as foolish as signing Lewis, or letting Jameer Nelson play PG.

Dwight Howard would make the Nets a strong championship contender. The Nets should offer any combination of 3 or 4 players, but making sure to retain Kidd, Carter and Jefferson.

#20 thats just the most insane thing you could ever say.......Dwight Howard is a beast and 1st of all he wouldnt go play in New Jersey, people wanna go play in Orlando with him (did you even read the article)
2nd it would take at least Kidd+Carter+Jefferson to get Howard
If your comments are that stupid please just keep them to yourself

    # 20 gus w The Nets would have to gut their entire roster to aquire Howard, it would make more sense for Kidd to come to Orlando. Depending on what they'd have to give up to get him, it would definitely put them a lot closer to Boston & Detroit in the "getting a lot tougher east".

Stacie, I couldn't agree more with your comments(#10). O-town needs a defensive dominating PF player who can help Howard dismantle opposing offenses and contribute a little on the offensive end of the court, and help free up R. Lewis for more easy buckets and threes.

Howard is definitely alot better in the free throw line if you compare him to Shaq. You can tell the form of his shooting and the arc or the ball after he releases. I've also seen a couple games earlier this season where he hit crucial free throws at the end of the game. You can tell he practices free throws.

gus don't ever suggest trading dwight howard away from the magic. he's their franchise guy and he wants to stay there for the rest of his career.
