The struggling New York Knicks will definitely look into the possibility of signing Allen Iverson(notes) after he becomes a free agent today, but that doesn't mean he's ever going to be actually playing for the team. In fact, team president Donnie Walsh thinks that is a complete long shot, according to the New York Post.
Head coach Mike D'Antoni didn't seem overly excited about the prospect of signing the 34-year-old guard who has been put on waivers by the Memphis Grizzlies. "He's been a force in this league for God knows how long," D'Antoni said. "I'm not taking anything away from him. At the same time, there's a lot of organization stuff to talk about."
Still, the team will do pretty much anything to dig itself out of its 1-9 worst start of all time.
Isn't now the time to a few Greek teams to say they'd take Iverson in a heartbeat?

Why is he "me, me, me" ? He wants to start, if he can't start, rather than being a cancer in a locker room, he would just walk away and leave the game he loves...and retire...he just feels he can start at the Point on many NBA teams and still play at a high level...he doesn't care about the money, he just wants to play...if he can, great if not, he'll walk away.
And how is he a "waste" of a human being? What have you done with your life? Excelled in anything? Have you taken an NBA team to the finals, you ever donated money to HIV AIDS awareness programs? Founded a charity to build bball courts in the inner cities? Donated to the boys and girls clubs? Play college bball for Georgetown, get selected first in an NBA draft? PLay in the NBA at the highest level for over 10 seasons?
Is he perfect...no, he's a basketball player, not a priest....
I hope he finds a home, and has some good bball left in the tank...the Knicks are insane not to take him, but then again the Knicks have one of the worst organizations going right now, they've mad ALL the wrong moves over the last 5 years or more...plus the guy only wants a year contract and is not demanding any big money...
Lighten up buddy.

"The Knicks will not sign with the long shot because the knicks has a little bit worst record for the team if Iverson will decide for 3 teams between the Heat,Cavaliers and the Celtics if Iverson will like to play for the long-shot if Iverson will choose the Cavaliers with Lebron and Shaq""
The Celtics don't need a point guard, neither does the Cavs, Miami...maybe but it's not for AI to "decide"...no one really wanted him this summer, besides the grizzles....so I think it will just biol down to where will be have a shot at starters minutes....he is not going to Boston to sit the bench behind Rondo, or the Cavs behind Mo...AI doesn't really care about sitting on the bench and getting a ring...he wants to play...
none of the teams you listed make any sense at all.

I'm tired of the nonsensical babble and trash talk about one of the game's great players! Admittedly not always the best teammate, no real basketball fan would ever doubt A.I.'s heart, his willingness to play through injuries, put fans in seats (and on their feet), sell jerseys, score 25-30 a night and...oh yeah, break people's ankles in the process.
In a league dominated by oversized guards, 6'-10" swing-men and 300+lb. monsters-in-the-middle, Allen Iverson has competed and excelled despite his 6' slender frame. He has carved his way into N.B.A. greatness with grit, toughness, determination, a wicked handle and a first step that leaves defenders behind like business cards at a networking event.
I think "The Answer" has plenty of "advice" left to give.
